The acclaimed Classicist Mary Beard, the presenter of The BBC’s ‘Ultimate Rome’, gave David Gilmour a personal tour of Pompeii on Friday ahead of his show that evening! It has been some while since the amphitheatre at Pompeii hosted any kind of audience, this was a return show for Gilmour, who last played this incredible venue in 1971, during his days with Pink Floyd. We arranged for Mary to attend the show, after finding out she is a big Pink Floyd and David Gilmour fan. Today she is on the Radcliffe and Maconie, on BBC Radio 6 Music to talk about David’s return to Pompeii.
